harnessing the power of photography for good

The Gift of Worship

I first heard about Renovate last year.  My friends were part of the leadership team and asked if I could come and take some  photos for them.   Renovate happens every other month, and their goal is to “help equip youth and young adults to live a righteous lifestyle that’s  full of boldness, yielded to the Holy Spirit &  fully consecrated to His direction.”

I look forward to Renovate because I love the worship.  The worship team may not have the greatest musicians but they are Spirit led!  I will take that over slick over-produced worship sets any day!

I didn’t take a lot of photos, I felt compelled to just sit and worship.  I have said often that as followers of Christ, seeking to use the gift of photography to help glorify Him, there comes a time when we have to put the camera down and just be in His presence.  So that’s what I did.

It was fun watching God work in her heart as she was worshiping.

I believe we all have gifts that we can use to worship God with.  Some with their gift of music and a beautiful voice, others with their hands, and still others with their mind.  If God has blessed you with skills, like taking great photographs, use them for His Glory!

No greater blessing than being in the Spirit, using your gifts to worship the One who gave the Gift!!

Hunger Games, Oaxaca & True Humility

Tomorrow morning bright and early me and Cyndy will be heading to LAX to jump on a plane for Oaxaca, Mexico.  I’m as excited as a teen age girl waiting in line tonite for a midnight showing of Hunger Games!  I have not read any of the books and unless I can find a bootleg copy of the movie on the streets of Oaxaca, I’m not likely to see the movie either.

What is exciting me is faces like this little gal above.  It’s a simple reminder from God not think more of myself than I ought to.  A reminder to be like Christ…

6 Who, being in very nature God,
   did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
   being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
   he humbled himself
   by becoming obedient to death—
      even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:6-11

Hunger Games will come and go…save your money and invest in things that build up the Body of Christ and will make a difference for eternity.  While down in Oaxaca we will be posting here and thanks to heywire, I can text yall for free 🙂

Please pray for me and Cyndy as we document what God is gonna be doing in Oaxaca during this years Adventures in Life Medical Team Mission, and for folks coming to minister and provide medical help.

All Glory to God!
