harnessing the power of photography for good

chichen itza!

im not fond of being in front of the camera, but i figure  if im not folks may not believe i was there.  so here i am, in front of the pyramid of chichen itza. some call it “el castillo.”  this photo was taken right after we got there, at around 830am.  the crowds of tourists hadnt arrived yet…

i think this photo is hilarious!  this huge grassy area and they are using push mowers to cut the grass.  they should call john deer, im sure they would donate some riding mowers in exchange for the publicity they would get.

this picture was taken around 1230pm.  you can see the crowds in the background…there were tons of folks still coming when we left at 1pm.

i was talking with this kid, as best as i could, as he was trying to sell me stuff.  i saw his spider man t shirt and we both shared our being fans of spidey.  he saw the camera, and asked if he could take a picture…why not.  i showed him the picture and he smiled.  but didnt want anymore pics taken of himself.

after chichen itza, we went to this area called cenotes, where there were underground caves you could swim in…you get there by being pulled by horse in these rickety “train” carts.  we actually derailed once, better than any carnival ride!

1st of the 2 we went to.  the water was even bluer in person!  and visibility was pretty good.

2nd water cave.  the water in both was nice.  about low to mid 60s if i had to guess.  but it was perfect, considering the day was in the low 90s with 80% humidity.  it felt great to jump into the water!
