cayman 2010: keepin the cool in school

got to hang out with the sports ministry folks on monday…lots of smiling faces and kids having fun.  they basically played basketball, football, soccer, skateboraded, and some sort of game with a parachute with the kids.  and then they got a chance to talk to the kids about the do something event at the end of the week and then pray for them.  no shoes, no problem

after playing flag football for a few minutes, the boys asked if they could play tackle.  the teachers said yes…and what happened next brought a big smile to my face.  they ended up playing a game that unfortunately has been outlawed in american schools for some time.  the mere mention of the name of the game brings shivers up the spine of the pc (political correctness) crowd.  “smear the queer” is what we called it.  if you ever played football with friends, sooner or later you ended playing this game.  real simple, tackle the dude with the ball.  if you get tackled, get rid of the ball and someone else picks it up and runs until he or she get tackled…
