as a photographer you learn to see and observe things that others may miss. you become a “watcher” of the world around you and “pop culture” in general.
John 18:36 – Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
1 John 3:15-16 says “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world- the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions- is not from the Father but is from the world.”
we are to be in the world, but not of the world. things and stuff are nice….cameras, cars, computers, guns or even….rifles! did someone say rifle! yes i did, for those who are swayed by cute sayings i present exhibit f ( f as in Full disclosure & Full metal jacket), please listen to exhibit f: prayer.wav sounds familiar…hmmm
this picture of photographers at the athens 04 olympics may be a slice of reality. if you look closely, i can spot 3 nikon shooters and you might think that being a minority reporter, is a good thing. im gonna play david and goliath bring may knife to a canon, oops, i mean gun fight. yes, david had faith, and all he needed was a few stones and sling shot…but your no tony or david
life isnt a comic book or game. there comes a time when you look all around you and see that your drowning in a sea of white, and instead of beating the waves hopelessly trying to live life your way, all you need to do is open your fist, trust, and surrender to the call of God and reach out your hand and say
“Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out His hand and took hold of him, saying to him “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14: 30-31
im not ashamed to say i listen to taylor swift either, so stop crying on your weathersealed camera…
