Return to Innocence
this week has been all about camps, 6th grade, jr high, and sr high camp. the rock academy (www.therockacademy.org) has students at 3 different camps this week. i was at 6th grade camp and now im at the high school camp. terry is at the jr high camp right now.
whenever i see swings, i almost always jump on and swing for awhile. it reminds of being a kid…carefree, boundless energy, ready to conquer the world, or at least the canyon out back. and its a great reminder of my position before God, that of a child. that’s probably why i try to swing whenever i get a chance. the worries of the world seem to disappear, at least for the moment, and im just joe, child of God, swingin w the Lord of the Universe. its humbling, restful, inspiring, and just plain fun. some times i think the world tries to complicate things for kids way too much, and we try to entertain them while sheltering them from the “dangers” of the world. thats probably why i try to swing, go hang out at the park and watch kids play, or go for a ride on the merry-go-round at balboa park or seaport village. a simple reminder to not think to highly of ourselves, and to remember Dad’s in control.
the Word tells us in Matthew 18
2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
go and see, God is good! All the time!
