Good vs. Best
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
this is one of my favorite sections of God’s Word. im reminded of several things, all of which i learned many moons ago when i was new to the Faith and going to church at Emmanual Faith in Escondido. this section is so jam packed w nuggets, i dont have enough time to share all that i have learned, but last night at my home Bible study group i go to, we looked at this section and i was reminded that Paul’s encouragement here…”that your love may abound more and more (how?), with knowledge and all discernment” is an encourgement to study God’s Word, learn it and live it, “so that you (we) may approve what is excellent”
this is what i what i was encouraged and challenged with again… Paul is wanting us to have knowledge and discernment so we would make wise decisions, Not between the right & wrong, but a choice between Good vs. Best. Paul expects that as God’s elect, we would know the difference between right & wrong, good & bad. God wants us to choose His Best over what is Good.
a friend of mine put it this way, everyday we are confronted with many decisions, some good some bad, but often its a matter of choices in many situations, a choice between God’s permissable, acceptable, and perfect will. none of the choices are contrary to His will, but 1 is better than the rest, the Perfect.
Terry is up at camp with the Rock Sr High Ministry this week, he will be at camp for 3 weeks. i sent him a message yesterday, that as he is serving, documenting what God is doing at camp, to remember to take time to rest physically and spiritually. because only if he is in tune w God and His Spirit, is he gonna be successful at taking pics of God’s Best. i rather he take a few great pics, than a bunch of ok pics.
this has always been our goal as photographers at the rock church, to be Spirit lead, documenting God’s best. John 3:21, our verse as a team, says “whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” my encouragement to yall is to seek after God’s best in everything you do, lets encourage one another to stay in the light, so if were taking pics for Jesus, or at work, or doing the dishes, we are doing it to the best of our abilities. i know i need to be reminded of this daily, i hope you have been encouraged. thank you Jesus.
